How to avoid computer vision syndrome (CVS)

We bloggers sit too much in front of the computer, hopping from blog to blog. Straining our eyes in the process. I’ve had a really bad case of dry eyes before. So, i know how uncomfortable it is. Especially contact lens wearers. Here are some tips on how to reduce the risks of CVS.

  • Check your screen for reflections. Adjust your desk lighting and window shades or rotate your workstation to eliminate reflections on your screen.
  • Check the refresh rate of your monitor. A refresh rate of at least 70 Hz is recommended.
  • Rest your eyes frequently by closing them or looking across the room for several seconds. Do this every 15 - 20 minutes.
  • Blink fully once or twice every time you change a page view to help keep your eyes moist and comfortable.
  • Be aware of your posture. Avoid lapsing into cramped positions that canlead to neck, shoulder and back stiffness or pain.

Snack on some organic sunflower seeds when working at the computer. Helps bring relieve to eyes strained from the monitor’s reflections.
