Why is it important to eat organic foods?
There are plenty of reasons to eat organic than most people realise. First, organic food is herbicides and pesticides free. Do you know that on average, a person eats a gallon/4liters of these poisons from their daily fruits and vegetables in a year? I’ve no idea how damaging to our health it can be in the long run. But common sense tells me to stay clear from it.
Secondly, organic food has at least 26% more “dry matter” and contains less water than non-organic foods grown with fertilisers. The effect of fertilisers is to get more water into the plant. In other words, two organic tomatoes fill you up the same as three organic ones. So, even if organic tomatoes are 20% more expensive, they are still better value for money. On top of this, organic produce tend to have 50 to 100% higher mineral levels.
