Berries are delicious and naturally sweet. It is also a good source of vitamins and phytochemicals. Phytochemicals are the components of fruits or vegetables that help prevent diseases. For instance, cranberries and blueberries contain a substance that will help prevent or treat painful bladder infections.

Extracts from blueberries and strawberries have been shown to have anti-cancer properties. Dark colored berries like black raspberries contain poweful antioxidants, which may help to slow the aging process and keep us healthier. Lutein in berries is also beneficial for maintaining healthy vision, especially blueberries and raspberries. Look for ripe, colorful, yet firm bodies, with no sogn of mould or mushy spots. Gently wash berries before serving.
