What are parabens?

Parabens are synthetic preservatives that are used not just in cosmetic creams. They can also be found in shampoos, conditioners, hair styling gels, make-up and deodorants. They are notoriously linked to skin irritation, dermatits or allergic skin reactions. Long-term exposure from leave-on products like skin lotions and make-up, enables migration via the skin into the bloodstream. This can have oestrogenic effects that can interfere with hormone balance. Choose organic products instead as these do not contain parabens or chemical preservatives.
