How organic diets benefit breastfeeding mothers
I’m a breastfeeding mom. A mother’s milk is the most complete food for infants. I want to make it known that no other form of milk, be it organic or not, comes close to mother’s milk, which is made by your own body and tailored specifically to the needs of your child. Mother’s milk help build your baby’s immune system by passing natural antibiotics from mother to child.
However, a mother’s milk is also the medium by which unwanted chemicals are passed on. In a study on the health relationship between mother and child, EWG found that 90% of the pollutants in the child came from the former. The highest level of element detected was lead, a neurotoxic metal which is detrimental to the baby’s brain development.
Further studies have confirmed that after a six month period of breastfeeding, infants would receive as much as 50% of their mother’s harmful chemicals. Therefore, it’s important for mothers to consume organic and wholesome foods in their diet in order to produce uncontaminated milk.
