Probiotics

Probiotics are organisms or substances which help to restore the amount of known beneficial intestinal bacteria, thus creating a healthier environment in the intestinal tract. And imbalance in intestinal bacteria can be due to antibiotics or a stressful lifestyle and can result in yeast infections, diarrhea, sonstipation and many other intestinal discomfort.

Studies have suggested that friendly microbial strains, like Lactobacillus and Bifidobacterium, are helpful with flatulence, diarrhea, constipation and other problems. Good bacteria are also capable of improving the immune system and can protect against harmful viruses and bacteria.

Good bacterial starins also aid in yeast-overgrowth and urinary tract problems in women. Studies have shown that supplementing with probiotics may help those with diarrhea and enhance natural immunity. For children and the elderly, this boost in immunity is essential to good intestinal health.
