Are you afraid of head lice?

It’s common for schools, especially kindergartens, to conduct hair-checks on their student once in a while. This, according to them is to avoid other children from contracting head lice if another is found to have it. Anyone found to have head lice will be barred from coming to school untill they are treated. There are also many misinformation about head lice. Do you know of any? Here are just some of my findings:

1) They are harmless and do not spread diseases

2) They are not a sign of poor hygiene

3) They may be easy to catch, but also difficul to treat

4) They do crawl very quick, but certainly do not hop, jump nor fly

5) Can live up to 30 days on the scalp

6) Will die if away from the scalp for more than 2 days

7) Can also be found on bedding, carpet, old soft toys which are dirty and/or dusty

8) Cannot be prevented. Can only be treated when your child has the eggs or lice
