Is soy milk good for lactose intolerant children?

Many children have problem with cow or goat’s milk due to the lactose content present in the milk. Therefore, their parents have opted for soy as a convenient replacement. But, is it really suitable for them? In my opinion, soy milk is ok for children above one year of age. One point to note though. Soy milk is lower in calcium than cow or goat’s milk. If you insist on giving your children soy milk, do ensure the one you buy for them is calcium-fortified soy milk so that your child dont lose out on his daily calcium requirements. I suggest you also give your children some friendly bacteria to help with their lactose problem.
