Brown Rice Cereal Drink

It’s almost morning here and i’m still blogging away. I need to publish a few more posts. I’m so hungry that i went to the kitchen and made myself a glass of brown rice cereal drink with honey. Hubby bought that for me before he went on his business trips. Loving, eh. He knows i work through the night at times and may get hungry. He doesnt like me to eat instant noodles as they contain MSG. Too much MSG is not good for your health, ok. So, whenever you feel hungry in the middle of the night, do yourself a favor and drink a nice hot glass of beverage like my brown rice cereal drink.

Doodling Helps Give Your Memory A Boost

Business meetings can be boring. A friend of mine nearly got himself a warning letter as he nearly fell asleep during an important business meeting. Well, if you ever found yourself nodding off in the middle of one, you may want to get hold of lots of paper before you head into the conference room.

Why? You can always doodle away whenever you feel bored. According to a study conducted by Jackie Andrade, PhD, of the School of Psychology at England’s University of Plymouth, doodling may boost memory. Not only does doodling helps ease the boredom, it might help you remember snippets of key information that’s mentioned in those conversations too.

Alert- Recall on all Philip’s Mushroom Farms’ Enoki mushrooms due to Listeria

I read from WebMD that there’s a recall on all Philip’s Mushroom Farms’ Enoki mushrooms due to Listeria. Be very care, as Listeria monocytogenes can cause listeriosis. It is an infection that mainly affects the elderly, pregnant women, newborns, and also people with weak immune systems. According to the CDC, if you contract Listeria during pregnancy, it can lead to miscarriage or stillbirth, premature delivery, or infection of the newborn.

If you notice any symptoms like fever and muscle aches, nausea and diarrhea after eating Enoki mushrooms, go see a doctor immediately. Cos if it spreads to the nervous system, it may cause headache, stiff neck, confusion, loss of balance, or even convulsions. Do not wait and see, k. Read this article on Enoki Mushrooms Recalled Due To Listeria at WebMD for more accurate information.

Grapeseed Extract Kills Cancer Cells

According to a report on BBC News Uk website, a recent US research indicates that an extract from grape seeds can destroy cancer cells whilst leaving normal cells alone. here’s what it has to say:

In lab experiments, scientists found that the extract stimulated leukaemia cells to commit suicide.

Within 24 hours, 76% of leukaemia cells exposed to the extract were killed off, while healthy cells were unharmed, Clinical Cancer Research reports.

The study raises the possibility of new cancer treatments, but scientists said it was too early to recommend that people eat grapes to ward off cancer.

Grape seeds contain a number of antioxidants, including resveratrol, which is known to have anti-cancer properties, as well as positive effect on the heart.

Previous research has shown grapeseed extract has an effect on skin, breast, bowel, lung, stomach and prostate cancer cells in the laboratory.

It can also reduce the size of breast tumours in rats and skin tumours in mice.

This finding is not conclusive yet, k. So, dont rush off to your nearest grocery and sweep all the grapes off the shelves. Give the researchers more time so that they can confirm the facts. We do really need a surefire way to combat cancer.

Marinating Meat In Alcohol May Cut Cancer Risk

I read an article at BBC News that marinating meat in alcohol prior to cooking may cut down on cancer-causing agents produced during the cooking process. And this includes both frying and grilling. I seldom eat meat, but i dont mind marinating them in red wine before cooking. It gives the meat a nice aroma and also acts as a mild tenderizer too, lol. The remainder of the red wine can be enjoyed during mealtime as well. Win-win, hoh. It’s the last day of 2008. Be merry and dont overeat!!!
