Organic Parade

I’m already three weeks into my all-new routine. Things are much better this week compared to the previous two. Hubby’s back since last Friday and he’s helped out a lot. If he’s free, he’ll drive me to go pick our big kid up from school in the evenings. The only thing i dont like is that if he happens to be out for an appointment, i’ll be without the car. I’ll have to go pick my kid up with my father-in-law’s car (which i hate :p). What to do? I dont have a car of my own yet. I’m planning to buy one this year when my income is better.

Someone told me to buy a smaller car to fetch kids to and fro school. The road that leads to my kid’s school is very narrow and the drivers there tend to park their cars there wherever they like. I have to go really early just so to get a parking space at the front for easy exit. If not, i may have to park at the far end of the school and walk a long way. If it’s a sunny day, then it’s alright. If it rains, then a bit difficult. My cousin bought a dodge to fetch her kids to and from school. She says it’s a reliable car. Any dodge owners here? I knew i’ll be coming down with something the moment i woke up this morning. My nose was very stuffy, and my eyes were watery too. I thought something’s wrong with the air-cond but no, it’s in perfect working condition. The room is nice and cold. Oh, mannnn…. it’s the flu. Well, there’s no running away from flu but there are things that i can do to make the symptoms more bearable for the next few days.Hubby told me to go make myself a glass of Redoxon and go take a rest for the rest of the day. He will take care of the kids so that i can get well soon. Isnt my Man sweet…..

After he left the house, i went to update my Facebook telling my friends i coming down with the big bad bug. One of them replied to my my update and told me to give this Maqui Berry a try. How was your weekend. I had a great one. Hubby came back and took the kids and i out for four straight days. I always tell him to try and plan his work schedule so that he can be home during weekends. It doesnt happen often but when he’s around, i make sure the kids and both of us enjoy it together it happily. He bought something for the kids and i last week. There were two shirts for each boy, and i received a new watch from him. Isnt my man sweet. He may be busy working, but seeing the gifts reminds us that he’s thinking of us even though he’s not around.

Last weekend, we went out for lunch at the mall. I knew he likes the silver bracelet at Fossil and i bought that for him. He was so happy that he wore it immediately. This is one way we foster a good husband and wife relationship. The gift need not be an expensive item. It’s the thought that counts. My cousin’s hubby has a different way of showing how he cares for the family. He bought everyone in the family term life insurance recently. He always tells my cousin not to worry should he dies unexpectedly. Life is unpredictable. He only wants them to go on living without financial difficulty. That’s very caring of him, huh.

Hubby’s uncle died of lung cancer recently. He was 68. I didnt even know that he had cancer until my mother-in-law told me about it. According to hubby’s aunt, his late uncle knew he had lung cancer about six months ago. He’s been to a few doctors but decided not to undergo any form of treatment for lung cancer at all. His late uncle was a bachelor and also a very quiet man. Even though he had lung cancer, he still went about his work just like any normal person. It was only until the last few weeks of his life that he laid in a hospital bed.

My father-in-law and his siblings carried out a simple funeral for him. Hubby’s late uncle didnt buy any life insurance when he was still alive. Each time someone talks to him about insurance, he will shoo him away. If he had some form of insurance, he would have left something behind. I think the reason he doesnt want to buy insurance  is because he’s single and has no one to leave it to. Whatever it is, he’s gone now and he’s lucky to have so many sibling to send him off on his final journey.i bought insurance as i want my kids to have something when idie one day. What i enjoy doing most is playing with my kids each evening after they come back from school. I bought them some toys over the weekend and they are having so much fun. Sometimes, i just wish they wont grow up so fast as i really love them being small and want these wonderful moments to last forever. I have friends who prefer to stay single as they do not want to have children. What a waste. But i guess not everyone is cut out to be a parent.

The other day, a friend bought term life insurance and told me it’s a good way to make sure she’ll have money when she’s old. She says as she doesnt have kids, there wont be anyone to take care of her when she’s old. I bought mine long ago. It’s good to know that i will have money for my old age come twenty to thirty years from now. I also do not want to depend on my kids to support me when i’m old. My dear friend, Pat, sent me an MMS just now. It’s a scene from her hotel room. Where we live,  we’re getting a long weekend off and her hubby took her and their twins off for a holiday. Arrrggghhhh… how i wish i can join them for a weekend of fun too. I’m so dying to go on a holiday right now. Even if it’s not a luxury trip to some exotic country also nevermind. Just book me into a bed and breakfast for the weekend and i’ll be the happiest woman on earth now, lol. I’m really not that demanding after all, you know.

Hubby will be back later this evening. I’m going to show him the MMS that Pat sent and hopefully, he’ll get the hint. Though we may not make it this weekend, there are still many weekends that he can take off work. I’m lucky as we run our own business. Being our own boss provides us with lots of flexibility to plan events and such for the family. If we were to work for someone else. it’s not that easy. Well, hope the economy improves soon and hubby earns more. We can then go for holidays more often.

My kid was down with a really bad tummy last week. Took him almost 4 days to fully recover. He is so skinny now and doesnt want to eat much these few days. He only wants to eat noodles with eggs. I dont mind cooking him noodles, but i sure dont want him to eat too many eggs each day. It’s really not a good idea to let kids eat eggs everyday. I made him some organic kamut pasta the yesterday and added tofu to the pasta sauce. It’s texture is almost like egg and my kid seems to like it. Well, i’ll make him another round when he comes back from school afterwards. Hope he wont complain much and eat everything up.

I’m getting sleepy again as i was woken up at 9am this morning. I hate it when the phone rings at that hour and i have no choice but to answer it. No one calls me at THAT hour, ok. Maybe the bank. This morning, the call was from one of my credit card issuers. They are having some balance transfer programs and asked me if i’m interested in that or not. Then, it’s one of their super insurance packages with an investment program tied to it. Gimme a break. It’s a really bad idea to buy insurance that way, k. I will only buy life insurance after comparing with a few insurance companies. Anyway, i’ve left the link to one here if you are interested. Check it out, ok.

I met up with a few friends this evening for tea. Most of them were telling me how costly it can be to be on contraceptives. We were discussing the various forms available to us in the market when Kelly told us what she read at WebMD yesterday. Seems that the FDA has approved the FC2 Female Condom to help prevent pregnancy, HIV/AIDS, and other sexually transmitted diseases.

She told me us the original female condom is called the FC1 Female Condom and it was approved by the FDA in 1993. If you’ve not used nor seen a female condom before, it’s just a thin, flexible sheath that’s worn by a woman inside her vagina. You dont need a doctor’s prescription to buy a female condom. And also, do note that it’s not a reusable item.

Now, the good news. The FC2 costs up to 30% less than the FC1. So, do give it a try. She also told us she found AdultsOnlyCoupons.com, a site where she can get a lot of discount coupons for adult items like condoms, movies and also some sexy lingerie. Isnt it great. Now i dont have to go look for adult items at the local shops. Geeee…. i wonder if they have discount coupons for edible lingerie or not. I’d sure like to get a few for my cousin, who’s getting married next month, lol.

The bad economy is really not doing everyone much good. Just the other day, the organic shop i used to go to had to move to another part of town. I called up the owner to ask her where she’s moved to and i was sad to hear that i now need to drive more than half an hour just to reach her new place. She told me it’s near where she lives and the rental there is much lower.

The moving company only took one day to ferry all her goods over to the new shop. Good to hear that. I took down the moving company’s contact as i may need their service later on when i move house. Now that my friend has moved so far away, i guess i wont be buying my organic stuffs from her anymore. It’s way too far for me and i dont have any business at that part of town. There is another organic shop near my house, but it doesnt carry most of my favorite brands. Time to try new stuffs, lol.

How did your holiday go? Did you have a good rest after all the hoohah? It’s back to work for me again. And this year, i plan to be more disciplined and stay home more, lol. You know, i really should be resting more during the day as i work through the night. But with the kids at home everyday during the past two months, there’s really nothing much that can be done as far as work is concerned. By the time night falls, i’m far too tired to stay up to update my blogs. I really really do miss my four hours to myself each day.

The new school term starts next Wednesday. i still havent finished buying school items for my kids yet. My elder boy needs a new schoolbag. I took him out the other day but he cant find one that he likes. If he’s still undecided by next Tuesday, he will have to continue using his old Mickey Mouse schoolbag. Hubby asked me to buy them UGG boots to go to school. He saw some online and says they are very nice. I told him he must be nuts to make our kids wear UGG boots to school. SO HOT!!!! But i dont mind buying for them if he promise to take us go holiday at a place where the weather is cold. The Swiss Alps sounds great, dont you think so?

With cost of living ever on the rise, i have to do my best to budget my finance well. If not, i may find that i do not have enough cash to use towards the end of the month. I wonder when will we ever see electrical tariff where it once was. Though fuel price is already reduced back to before the June hike, prices of goods are still relatively high. Manufacturers are now citing high operating cost as factories use a lot of electricity for their production. I dont know how the lower income group can survive this economic downturn when i’m already finding it difficult to make ends meet.

The other day, i was at my friend’s organic shop when she told me to expect an increase in a few items that i normally buy. If this continues, i may have to resort back to non-organic foodstuffs. She went on to explain why she has to increase the pricing and yadda yadda yadda. Oh well, if the price is not right, i’m not buying, PERIOD. She then told me one of her suppliers resorted to installing gps tracking devices to his delivery trucks as he suspects his workers may be using the trucks to deliver their own goods to customers. He hasnt caught anyone yet, but says that he can at least know where his drivers are during working hours.

I was just telling hubby about all those colorful candy canes and Christmas cookies sold at Cold Storage when he reminded me that i need to lose some weight, lol. That man, you cant really talk to him about junk foods. Him, he’s only interested in organic food and health supplements. And yes, he hogs the Wii Fit too. Sometimes, i had to lock myself up inside the room just so that i can workout on my Wii Fit. If not, i will never be able to chart my workout progress. How to lose weight that way, you tell me.

Christmas is just round the corner and i sure want to look good then. I have a few party invitations but havent decided which to attend. I cant reply to any of those invitations as we may have plans of our own then. My SIL hinted to me last Sunday that she may want to throw a party for her kid who scored 7As for his UPSR exam.She asked me if i have a any party ideas to share or not. Me, i’ve not thrown a party for such a long time. After asking some friends, i was given a link to this site where she can find all the party ideas that she’ll ever need.

I’m so going to whack my kid’s bum if he continues to leave the bedroom door wide open. The weather is so hot these days and i have no choice but to stay inside my room with the air-conditioner turned on full blast. I know this will jack the electricity bill up but like i said earlier, i have no choice. I’d love to take my laptop out and sit at the mall, but too bad, my kids cant behave there these days. The other thing i can do to stay cool is take a cold bath every few hours or so.

I enjoy relaxing in the long bath very much. When i was a working gal, the studio apartment i rented had a long bath. Each evening after work, i enjoy soaking in the long bath with my favorite aromatherapy essential oils. Now, all we have is a tiny bathroom. The economy is so bad now that i dare not buy a property. Hubby says to wait till next year when property is lower. I dont mind waiting as long as i dont have to pay way above the market value for my future home. No point slaving over the mortgage.

I’m a simple person. I just want a small house of five bedrooms. And yes, they must have their individual bathrooms as i hate sharing my personal space. I was helping a friend select bathroom suites for her new place just now. They are so elegant and surprisingly, affordable too. Just make me want to buy a house right now and renovate my very bathroom complete with long bath and vanity counter. Oh, why not you go check out the site? I ran out of organic cereal and had to head over to grab a few packets from the organic store this noon. My two year old only eats that. He’s quite a picky eater and seldom tries new tastes. Oh well, if he likes the organic cereal, i’d better go make sure i have plenty in the kitchen. He takes one sachet before he goes to daycare and another before bedtime.

The recent increase in fuel prices a couple of months back have caused many organic goods to go up in price. Thought the price of the organic cereal which i bought did not changed, it’s contents certainly did. It’s down by a whopping 25%. Used to contain 16 sachets in a packet. Now, it only has 12 in it. Even though our Government have reduced the priced of fuel a few times, i dont see suppliers nor retailers lowering their prices.

My cousin was also ranting to me about how much more he had to pay when he went to the health store to buy some supplements. He works out a the gym and takes a lot of supplements. I’ve been out shopping with a girlfriend these past few days. It’s been more than a year after the birth of her baby daughter, and yet, she cant seem to lose all the fat around her mid-section. She’s having difficulty fitting into her pants. She was very surprised that i got back into my pre-pregnancy clothes less than two weeks after i had my second baby. She kept asking me if i took any weight loss supplements or not. I told her no. I lost weight fast as i was breastfeeding my baby. And you know how breastfeeding burns calories fast, right.

Anyway, she’s been on various diet plans before to no avail. I even accompanied her to gym sessions before. I was chatting with a friend last night over her weight loss problem when she told me the problem may lie in her colon. There may be lots of toxic build-up in her intestines and also parasites living in her stomach too. All these toxic build-up will form a plaque that coats the interior walls and lining of the colon. From what i learned, the layer can become so thick that one’s body becomes fatter. This is just the body’s defense system working to prevent the poisons from infesting.
