Are you lonely?

It’s not easy for Karen to find a partner to share her life with. She’s still single and living on her own since both her parents passed away. She’s about my age and is a very shy person. Each time we chatted, i can sense her loneliness even though she doesnt talk about it. My friend was born with a big red patch over one side of her face and she keeps her hair really long so that it covers it. She has seen many doctors and skin specialists to see if they can help with her problem but it’s just too bad they cant do anything about it.
Each of them told her that her condition will only worsen and the redness will spread to her whole face if they attempt to remove it. It has got something to do with those very fragile blood capillaries and that they break very easily. She even has to wash her face very lightly for fear she might break any of them and create more redness. There was once she went on a blind date and the guy ran off the moment she turned up and introduced herself. She cried for two whole months and never wanted to go on another date ever.
But how can a person lead such a lonely life, right. She told me her cousin told her to try online dating for a change. With online dating, she dont have to meet the person. She dont have to jump right into a relationship with the first person she meets. Take it as platform to make new friends. The thing is if she want to have a serious relationship with any person, she has to be frank with her health problem. I’ve heard stories of how people lie online to make friends. And this is bad. How would you feel if someone were to tell you that they look exactly like Sharon Stone but ended up looking like Shrek.
Online dating has come a long way. They now have services like chatroom and also video chats to enable members to meet and get to know each other better. Karen listened to her cousin and gave it a try. She made some friends and finally met someone who really cared about her and dont mind her red patchy face at all. They met up after dating online for more than 6 months and he proposed to her that very same day. If not for online dating, Karen might still be lonely till today.
